2011 Recap

Hello Everyone!

Boy, did 2011 fly by! I want to thank all of the brides, grooms, MOB's, MOG's, Family members, wedding planners that I have worked with this year. 2011 has been Brown Sugar Custom Cake's busiest year to date. I also want to give a special thanks out to my mom, aka Mother Glover, who helped me bake the cakes, whip up that icing, and to Daddy Glover for letting me borrow the Tahoe for those large cakes that just couldn't fit in the Colbalt! Next year, Brown Sugar will not be taking orders after April 2012, because I will be taking some time off over the summer to study for my Radiologic Technology Exam and hopefully take a vacation ( cause I sure need one).  I've been wanting find a permanent home for Brown Sugar, but I dont know where I will end up, Beaufort, Bluffton, Savannah, Charleston, or Charlotte. Who knows what 2012 will hold, and I'm excited to see what will happen!

What to expect from Brown Sugar Custom Cakes next year:
A larger cupcake menu ( including S'mores cupcakes and Peanut butter cup)
More flavored buttercreams ( How does Chai spiced white chocolate sound?)
Mini Desserts in shot glasses
French Macaroons
More Cake Pops
More Rentals ( cake stands and custom table linens)
Birthday Parties ( decorate your own cake or cupcakes, and each guest gets a chefs hat and a "swag bag")
You might just see me set up at your local farmer's market

Now on to my  favorite cakes of 2011:

 Damask Cake
I'm in love with this print!
I've already decided that I will be making a display cake similar to this cake, but with red ribbon and roses

After cakes, my second love is shoes!
Who can resist a pair of Louboutins?

This cake was so classically southern!
This will be another one I will be making a display cake from.

This was a display cake that I designed, but I love the colors because there are so bold. Usually when you see quilting done, it looks so old fashioned and dated, but this quilting actually made the cake look modern because the diamonds are wider.

I just love that this cake is so simple, but so elegant.
The cake topper, done by my bride, really set the cake off nicely.

Again, I just love the clean lines of this cake. Those Hydrangeas were such a vivid dark blue!

I'm not much of a buttercream girl ( as you can see I do alot of fondant work, mainly because of the humidliy and heat of the lowcountry) but I just really like the buttercream ruffles on this cake. It's very unique, yet simple.

Thank you again to all that have helped me this year!
Have a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!!
