Rent the Runway

So I was browsing the internet, when I came across this website called Rent The Runway. You can rent designer dresses  ( I'm talking Herve Leger, Vera Wang, and Nicole Miller here) for events, get a backup size for free, and ship them back in a prepaid envelope( they dry clean it!!!). They also have clutches and  jewelry to rent, and undergarmets like tights, and spanx to purchase to make your outfit complete. Why go and buy a evening dress or cocktail dress for a wedding, formal function or a hot date, when you can just rent a dress, a designer dress at that, at around 90% off the retail price? I thought this would be a great idea for bridesmaids dresses.
I'm debating whether I should rent a dress for my birthday (which is on the 30th I might add). Here's are my favorites.

Calvin Klein- Ramon

Herve Leger- Coral Me Bad

Yigal Azrouel- Very Violet Draped

Thind/Desai Wedding, December 19, 2010, Westin Hilton Head Island

It's nice to have repeat customers, and this bride remembered that I did her sister-in-law's baby shower cake a whole year before, and wanted me to do her wedding cake for her traditional indian wedding with a modern, fun reception. This wedding guest list was probably the biggest I've ever made a cake for ( 600 people), even though we decided that not everyone needed cake. She also ordered a groom's cake, cupcakes with various toppings, and chocolate covered strawberries. Here are some pictures of her cakes, and also of pretty tablescapes ( I couldnt resist taking a pictures of those centerpieces).

Red Velvet Groom's Cake ( He was a football player for USC)
Milk Chocolate Strawberries with White Chocolate Drizzle
White Chocolate Strawberries with Milk Chocolate Drizzle

The Wedding Cake- 1st and 2nd tiers White Chocolate Pound Cake, 3rd tier Red Velvet, 4th tier White Chocolate pound Cake with Strawberry filling. "Unfinished Buttercream", Purple ribbon, and Purple Mokara Orchids
Gorgeous Sandblasted Manzanita branches with Purple Mokara Orchids and Crystal strands

Beautiful cluster of orchids, and candles. How pretty are those linens!

Nice to end 2010 with one of the biggest weddings to date. I wish the bride and groom the best!

Brown Sugar Custom Cakes

Hello Everyone,

My name is Courtney, owner of Brown Sugar Custom Cakes in Beaufort, SC. I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and start blogging. I started Brown Sugar Custom Cakes in 2008, after I graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in Business and Hospitality and Tourism. I was very disappointed in the jobs (and salaries) out there in the HTMT field, so what better way to make money than to start your own business. Almost 3 years later, I'm trying to make a name for myself in Beaufort, and change the "cake game." Brides should not be limited to big grocery stores cakes that you pick from a catalog. The wedding cake is very important, and every cake should be unique and reflect the couple. At the end of the wedding, the only things your guests will talk about is how beautiful the bride and groom was and the cake (ok.. maybe I'm being bias, but it's true :). So, I hope you enjoy reading my blog!
